Rubber Sheeting Manufactured in South Africa

AU Industries manufactures industrial rubber sheeting on our own mills in Boksburg, Gauteng. We supply rubber sheets and rolls to mines, processing plants, fabricators and lining contractors across South Africa and neighbouring countries, in natural rubber, nitrile, neoprene and bromobutyl compounds from 3mm to 25mm thick. Because we mix the compound and mill the sheet ourselves, every roll is made to a known formulation with consistent hardness and thickness, and we can produce non-standard widths, gauges and compounds to order.

Rubber sheeting is used to line pipes, tanks, chutes, hoppers, cyclones and screen decks against abrasion and corrosion, to cover rollers and pulleys, and as a general-purpose industrial rubber sheet for gaskets, skirting, wear strips and protective pads. Every grade below has a technical data sheet with hardness, tensile, elongation and abrasion-loss figures.

Natural rubber sheeting

• AU 40 Shore natural rubber, red and black (red · black). Our workhorse slurry-abrasion sheet: soft and resilient, so fine particles rebound rather than cut. Lines pipes, cyclone feeds, pump casings and tank floors.
• AU 60 Shore natural rubber, red and black (red · black). Harder and gouge-resistant for chutes, hoppers and screen decks handling coarse, impact-loaded material.
• AU Premium 38 Shore Pink (data sheet) and AU Premium 60 Shore Pink (data sheet). High-silica premium compounds for the most aggressive wear zones where standard natural rubber is replaced too often.
• AU Tigeye 38 Shore Red (data sheet) and SlurryShield 40 Shore Black (data sheet). Application-specific natural rubber grades for slurry duty.

Nitrile rubber sheet

AU 50 Shore and 60 Shore nitrile (NBR) (50 Shore · 60 Shore). Oil- and fuel-resistant sheet for oil- or hydrocarbon-bearing slurry lines, oil- and fuel-contact tanks and any surface exposed to hydrocarbons, where natural rubber swells and fails.

Neoprene rubber sheet

AU 50 Shore neoprene (data sheet). Resists oils, fuels, ozone, UV and abrasion, with good friction and self-extinguishing properties, for tank and chute linings, launders, pulleys, pipes and hoses in oil- or weather-exposed duty. Not for strong acids.

Bromobutyl rubber sheet

AU 50 Shore bromobutyl (data sheet). Chemical-resistant lining sheet for acid plants, CIL and CIP tanks and water-treatment vessels handling mineral acids, brine and alkaline solutions.

Thickness, sizes and formats

• Thickness: standard rubber sheet gauges run from 3mm up to 25mm, so thin rubber sheet at 3mm to 5mm and heavy sheet at 20mm to 25mm come off the same mill. For lining work, 6mm is the usual gauge for general slurry abrasion, stepping up to 10mm to 12mm or more at pipe bends, reducers and chute impact points where the flow changes direction. Gauges outside 3mm to 25mm are milled to order.
• Roll size: a standard roll is 1200mm wide and 12m long. We mill custom widths from 800mm to 1450mm, so a lining job can be sheeted with fewer joints.
• Cure state: sheet is supplied steam-cured for items that are lined and then vulcanised in our autoclave, and every steam-cured grade can also be supplied pre-cured (already vulcanised) for lining that cannot go through the autoclave. Pre-cured data sheets are published for AU 40 Shore black, AU 40 Shore red and AU 60 Shore black; ask for the pre-cured version of any other grade.
• Colour: red and black natural rubber as standard; pink marks the premium silica-reinforced grades.

Tell us the particle size, flow velocity, pH, temperature and whether the failure mode is rubbing, impact or chemical attack, and we will specify the grade and gauge rather than sell you the most expensive sheet.

Buying rubber sheeting from AU Industries

We sell rubber sheeting by the roll, and part rolls and custom widths for smaller jobs, quoted per compound, thickness and quantity. Standard 40 and 60 Shore batches are produced from stock in Boksburg, and custom compounds are formulated through our in-house compound development. Every roll leaves the mill in branded packaging with the compound, hardness, thickness and production date on the label for batch traceability.

Customers collect from our Anderbolt, Boksburg facility on the East Rand, or we deliver across Gauteng and on our weekly routes into Mpumalanga, with freight to the rest of South Africa and to Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. Manufacturing

Our sheeting is produced on industrial rubber mills in Boksburg, giving us full control over compound formulation, thickness consistency and quality.
