Site Maintenance & Installation
On-Site Services
AU Industries provides on-site rubber lining installation, maintenance, and shutdown support for mines and processing plants across Southern and East Africa. Our field teams work with approved maintenance contractors to deliver fast, quality installations that minimise downtime.
Services
Rubber Lining Installation
- Pipe lining — bonded rubber lining for slurry, process, and tailings pipes
- Tank lining — leach tanks, CIL/CIP tanks, acid tanks, and storage vessels
- Chute lining — transfer chutes, feed chutes, and discharge points
- Pump lining — casings, impellers, and volutes
Shutdown Support
During planned shutdowns we provide dedicated teams and pre-fabricated lined components to maximise the work completed in the shutdown window. Pre-lined pipe spools and fittings are prepared in our Boksburg facility and transported to site for rapid installation, so the critical-path work on site is fitting rather than lining from scratch.
Scheduled Maintenance
We offer maintenance contracts with scheduled lining inspections and replacements. Regular inspections identify wear before failure occurs, preventing unplanned downtime and equipment damage. Catching a worn liner during a planned inspection is far cheaper than a slurry breakthrough that damages the steel substrate underneath.
Surface Preparation
Proper surface preparation is critical for rubber lining adhesion. Our teams carry out grit blasting to SA 2.5 standard on site using mobile blasting equipment, so components can be prepared and lined without leaving the plant.
Planning a Shutdown
The work completed in a shutdown window is limited by preparation, not just labour. We help customers get the most out of every shutdown by:
- Lining components ahead of time — spools, bends, and fittings are lined in Boksburg and arrive ready to fit
- Surveying before the shutdown — we measure and specify wear items in advance so the right materials are on site
- Sequencing the work — installation is planned around the critical path so the longest tasks start first
- Carrying common spares — standard liners, skirt rubber, and impact bars are kept in stock for fast turnaround

How We Work
- Site visit — we assess the equipment, access, and logistics
- Specification — we recommend the correct compound, thickness, and application method
- Preparation — pre-lining of components in Boksburg where possible
- Mobilisation — teams and materials transported to site
- Installation — lining applied by experienced technicians
- Inspection — spark testing and quality checks before handover
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you travel to remote mine sites? Yes. We mobilise teams across South Africa and into Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe, and take on West African projects on request.
Can you support a planned shutdown? Yes. Shutdown support is one of our core services — we pre-line components in Boksburg and bring dedicated teams to site to maximise the work completed in the window.
Can you line equipment on site, or does it have to come to your facility? Both. We carry mobile grit-blasting equipment for on-site preparation and lining, and we also pre-line removable components such as pipe spools and fittings in Boksburg for faster installation.
