Rubber Rolls and Rubber Roller Recovering in Boksburg
AU Industries manufactures rubber sheeting rolls and re-covers industrial rubber rollers from our facility in Boksburg, Gauteng. Both use the same proprietary compounds we develop and mill in-house, so a roll of sheeting and a re-covered roller share a known formulation, hardness and quality.
Rubber roller recovering
Rubber-covered rollers wear, harden, crack and go out of round in service. Rather than replacing the whole roller, we strip the old covering off the existing core, inspect the core, bond a new rubber covering to it and cure it, returning a roller that meets the original specification or an improved one. Roller recovering, also called re-rubberising, re-covering or re-lagging, costs a fraction of a new roller and keeps the machine's own core.

Choosing the roller compound
We match the covering to the duty rather than fitting one rubber to everything: AU 40 and 60 Shore natural rubber in red or black, our premium pink compounds where the roller sees heavy abrasion, nitrile where oil, fuel or grease would swell natural rubber, neoprene for oil- or weather-exposed duty, and bromobutyl for chemical resistance. We match the existing specification or recommend an improved compound for longer service life. Tell us the roller's application, the existing hardness if you know it, and any oil or chemical contact. We can also formulate a custom compound where a catalogue grade does not fit.
How to get a roller re-covered
- Send us the roller's dimensions, the required hardness and the application, or simply send the roller.
- We quote per roller. Standard re-covers take one to two weeks once the roller is in our Boksburg workshop; critical-path rollers can be expedited.
- We collect and deliver across Gauteng and the East Rand, including Johannesburg, Germiston, Benoni and Boksburg, and ship rollers nationally.
Rubber sheeting rolls
We manufacture rolls of rubber sheeting in our standard compounds:
- AU 40 Shore Natural Rubber (Red & Black), slurry pipe and tank lining
- AU 60 Shore Natural Rubber (Red & Black), impact and gouge resistance
- AU Premium 38 and 60 Shore Pink, high-wear premium compounds
- Bromobutyl, chemical and acid resistance
- Nitrile, oil and fuel resistance
A standard roll is 1200mm wide and 12m long; custom widths from 800mm to 1450mm are milled to order. Thickness ranges from 3mm to 25mm depending on compound type.
Manufacturing
All rubber rolls are manufactured on our industrial mills in Boksburg. We control the full process from compound mixing through to sheeting, ensuring consistent quality and thickness across every roll.
Branding and packaging
AU Industries rolls are wrapped in branded packaging with batch identification for traceability. Each roll is labelled with compound type, hardness, thickness and production date.
